Bicycle Safety Games
Learning how to operate a bicycle safely is an important thing for children to learn; it can prove, however, challenging for parents to persuade their kids to sit still long enough to absorb anything. Help kids learn about how to be safe and keep them engaged with these bicycle safety games.

PENNDOT: Bike Safety Games
-
This website, created just for kids by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, is full of games and quizzes that are sure to hold kids' attention as well as some interactive graphics that teach young riders about hand signals, bike helmets, parts of a bike, and traffic signs. The Bike Driver's Test will challenge players' knowledge of how to ride safely in traffic, correcting players if they answer incorrectly. Have a Safe Ride! is a drag-and-drop game where players must drag items such as knee pads, helmets, and reflectors to the correct location on a bike and rider in order to demonstrate how to prepare for a safe bike ride. There are also several interactive quizzes on how to bike safely on the road as well as on bike trails. All of these activities are free to use.
Crucial Crew: Cycling Safety Game
-
In this interactive game filled with high-end graphics and audio, players must follow the story of a young boy, Tom, on a journey where he tries to bicycle safely while running errands for his father. As Tom encounters various problems on his journey, players must choose what to do at each crossroad. For example, the first problem Tom must solve is what to do when he realizes it's still dark outside: Should he leave quickly so he's not late in returning from the errand, or go back to his house to find a light? Each decision will show players the consequences of their actions, and if they make a poor decision, they will have to start the game over again at the beginning. This game takes a short time to load in between sections, but the engaging story line and graphics are well worth it.

McGruff: Bike Race
-
This game is preceded by a bike quiz in which players must correctly answer three safety questions to show McGruff that they know how to bike safely. Players will be given an explanation if they answer incorrectly. Once players have answered three questions correctly, they must ensure that their safety checklist is complete by clicking on the appropriate areas of an interactive graphic, finding the reflectors, helmet, and other items. Finally, kids must navigate Scruff through the road by using the arrow keys and adjusting their speed as necessary, following stop signs and other traffic rules as needed.
The Further Adventures of Kidd Safety
-
Kids can join Kidd Safety and his friends in an array of bicycle safety activities on a website designed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Children can begin by reading a short story about Kidd, or jump right into the activities. After clicking on the different links and learning about bicycle and helmet safety, kids can click on the icon of a bike in the lower right-hand corner to find the Kidd Safety Club game. In this game, kids must grab different safety items and avoid hazards in order to earn points and reach the park safely. The other images on the right-hand side of the menu will also bring kids to various other safety games.
