Crafts With Eyelets
Eyelets are common crafting embellishments for crafters who enjoy making cards and scrapbooks. You can use eyelets as decorative enclosures that secure layers of paper together in cards or scrapbook layouts. A single eyelet is generally smaller than a thumbtack, but you can also find eyelets that are larger in size. They also come in a variety of shapes such as squares, hearts, animals or jewels.

Eyelet Corner Recipe Card Gift

If you have room, you can also cut out tiny pictures of each recipe to place on the card. Use eyelets to make recipe card gifts for your friends. Find three of your favorite recipes and buy colorful 3-inch by 5-inch cards for them. Write the recipe and ingredients out neatly on each card, but leave empty space in the upper left-hand corner of each card. You can also use small stamps or draw pictures of the dish on the card if you have the ability to draw well. This is ideal for simple recipes that will leave a lot of empty space on the card. Stack the cards neatly and use a small hole punch to punch a hole in the upper left-hand corner. Place a circular eyelet in the hole and place the card flat on a plastic cutting board. Use a hammer or eyelet-pounding tool to fasten the eyelet into the cards. All three cards will now be attached.
Jewel Eyelet Scrapbook Border
-
You can also glue tiny, fake jewels on top of flat, silver eyelets. Make a jewel eyelet scrapbook border using jewel eyelets and plain or patterned card stock paper. Place your paper on top of a hard working surface such as a crafting table or on top of a plastic cutting board. Use an eyelet-pounding tool to create holes along the border of your paper. You can use a tiny hole punch as well--large hole punches are too big for eyelets. Place the holes 2 inches or more apart. Use your eyelet-pounding tool to pound each jewel eyelet into the individual holes on the page. Take your time and do this slowly because these eyelets are not as durable as standard stainless steel varieties. Choose three or more photos to feature on the page, and dress up empty space with stickers and other embellishments.

Flower Eyelet Corner Card
-
Pressed pansies and other flowers can be found at craft stores. Eyelets add finishing touches to a homemade card. Choose plain, circular eyelets or flower eyelets that match the theme for this craft. You can find daisy or other flower types of eyelets at the craft store. Buy other flower embellishments to match the theme of the card. Fold a large piece of card stock in half to create the shape for your card. Use a ruler to make the corners and spine completely flat. Open the card up and place the paper flat on a cutting board or other crafting board. Use a tiny hole punch to create holes on the four corners of the craft. You can also use an eyelet-punching tool to create your holes as long as you keep a hard, flat working surface underneath the craft. Place the eyelet on top of the hole and apply light pressure on top of the eyelet so the embellishments fasten into place on the card. You can layer a smaller piece of paper on the cover, or simply fasten the eyelets to the corners of the card. Dress up the card with flower stamps or pressed flowers.
