Popsicle Stick Snowmen Crafts for Kids
Recycle Popsicle sticks by using them as craft materials. Whether you paint them or embellish them with buttons and pom poms, Popsicle sticks make a sturdy base for your art projects. They can be sanded, stained, dyed or painted before or after assembly into your chosen craft project. Keep a supply of Popsicle sticks in your craft cupboard for rainy day activities. Allow extra time for glue to dry when making large projects.

Attach a small, medium and large white pompom to one end of a Popsicle stick to make your snowman's body and head. Paint a water bottle cap and a milk cap black. Have a responsible adult attach the water bottle cap to the milk cap using a hot glue gun to make a hat for your snowman. Use acrylic paints to decorate the remainder of the stick.

Lay ten Popsicle sticks with their long sides touching and their short ends facing you to make a square. Apply white craft glue to one side of two additional Popsicle sticks and lay them 1/2 inch from the short ends of the sticks at each end of the square to create a raft. This will make a 6 inch by 6 inch area. If you want a larger area to work with, join four rafts together.
Cut a natural sponge into a triangle, square and rectangle. Mix white, black and blue in a paper dessert plate to make midnight blue, mix white and blue to make sky blue, and white, black and green to make pine green. Ask younger children to name the sponge shapes as you dip them in paint, encouraging mathematical and scientific thinking.
Begin with white paint. Sponge areas where you want snow or clouds. Switch to light blue and midnight blue to create a night sky. Use the triangle shape dipped in dark green to create large and small pine trees.
Dip a milk cap and a water bottle cap in white paint to make your snowman's head and body. Glue on google eyes and a black felt hat. Have a responsible adult use a hot glue gun to attach paper clips to the top right and left corners of the back of each snowman painting.

Snowman Mobiles

Craft stick snowmen can hang from a glittery silver pipe cleaner snowflake to make a mobile. Cover one end of a Popsicle stick with craft glue and attach three cotton balls to make your snowman. Glue two black seed beads to the top cotton ball to make eyes. Cut a hat shape from black felt and glue it in place, cocked to one side. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the hat for a string. Glue three blue seed beads on the middle cotton ball for buttons.
Bundle five long, silver chenille pipe cleaners by tying them together at the center. Spread the 10 points apart to make a 10-spoked wheel. About 1/3 of the distance from the center of the wheel to the end of each spoke, bend one spoke at a 45-degree angle so that it crosses the spoke beside it and touches the tip of a third spoke. Tie the spokes together at each cross-point. Tie snowmen from each cross-point on the silver star and hang your mobile so that the star is parallel to the floor.
