Roses in the Disney Rose Gardens

Enjoy peace, quiet and roses in the Magic Kingdom.

In the middle of the noise and frenzy of Walt Disney World sits an oasis of calm---the Plaza Rose Garden. This All-American Rose Selection (AARS) display garden sits just to the right of Cinderella Castle. The garden boasts a winding path, relaxing benches and a romantic ambiance that makes it one of the park's most popular places to "pop the question."

  1. Lagerfeld

    • The Lagerfeld rose is named after the designer Karl Lagerfeld and was introduced in 1986. This grandiflora hybrid features lavender rosebuds that fade to silvery lavender when the flowers open. The Lagerfeld has a very strong and sweet fragrance, and sports long, straight stems.

    Knock Out

    • The Knock Out rose is a newer variety that has taken the rose community by storm. Introduced in 2000, it soon became the most widely sold rose variety in North America. The Magic Kingdom grows the original version of Knock Out, which is a cherry-pink flower on a compact bush. Its hot pink blooms cover the bush until frost, and are very resistant to disease.

    St. Patrick

    • St. Patrick is a flowering tea rose with a large growth, and greenish buds that turn bright yellow when they open. It often blooms throughout the heat of summer. St. Patrick was the AARS winner in 1996.

    Singin' In The Rain

    • Singin' In The Rain has unusually colored blooms of apricot to rust, which often draw comparison to a newly minted penny. This floribunda rose grows up to 5 feet tall, with dark and glossy green leaves. Singin' In The Rain grows in all kinds of weather and gives off a gentle, musky fragrance.

    Perfume Delight

    • Just as its name implies, Perfume Delight gives off a very strong "old rose" scent. This rose has been a favorite for decades, having won the AARS designation in 1974. Perfume Delight is a hybrid tea rose with long stems and glossy green leaves. The bush grows 4 to 5 feet tall, and the blooms keep returning as long as you keep cutting the flowers.
