Tiger Parade Float Ideas
Children enjoy playing with tiger toys and learning about these great cats, including where they live and how fast they run. There are a variety of creative approaches that kids and adults can use to make an impressive tiger-themed parade float.
-
Cartoon Tiger
-
Create your float using cartoon tigers. You can design your own cartoon tigers in a graphics program such as GIMP, Photoshop, or a basic program like Microsoft Paint. If you want to find cartoon images you can use for free, look online for public domain tiger clip art at a site such as pdclipart.org. You can enlarge the clip-art images you select by gradually sizing up the image to decrease the pixelation of the image. You can then have them printed out large scale in a store like Staples or Fedex-Kinkos. Next, these images can be cut out and affixed to cardboard so they can be placed on the float.
Tiger in the Jungle
-
Create a jungle-themed float with a giant tiger toy or paper mache tiger as the centerpiece. You should include some of the other inhabitants of the African plains as well, such as wildebeests or antelope, perhaps drinking at a faux pond as the tiger looks on. Add a jungle canopy, paper mache rocks and trees along with other smaller animals that live in the same habitat as tigers. Most craft and hobby stores sell the necessary materials to make these kinds of props.
-
Costumed Tigers
-
Make your own tiger costumes or rent them from a costume shop. Buy or make enough costumes so that each child in your group can dress up in their own tiger costume. As the float proceeds down the parade route, play related music such as "In the Jungle" and "The Eye of the Tiger." As a supplement to the music, perform a recitation of the poem "The Tiger" by William Blake.
