Several of these colleges are in the southern United States, where golf is a year-round sport. At these intitutions, students typically work to earn a degree in business administration with a focus in golf course management. Programs vary from two to four years of study depending on the particular occupation being sought.

  1. Golf Academy of America

    • This golf college originated in San Diego, California, and now offers locations in the sourthern states of Florida and South Carolina. The academy offers a two-year program in golf management and in becoming an accredited golf professional. Course curriculum includes classroom instruction, golf instruction, open play and tournaments. Graduate occupations include golf professionals, teaching professionals, club fitters, tournament organizers, course owners and golf product development specialists.

    Eastern Kentucky University

    • Eastern Kentucky University (EMU) is one of only a few four-year colleges in the United States that offer Professional Golf Management (PGM) programs with the Professional Golf Association, or PGA. PGM programs are an option within EMU's College of Business and Technology where students must complete 41 of a total 137 credit hours in specific courses related to the golf industry. Students must also pass a PGA playing test to graduate.

    Augusta Technical College

    • The same Georgia city that hosts the famed PGA Master's Tournament is home to a college that offers golf programming. Augusta Technical College, offers a 98-credit Golf Course Management degree. This typically takes students about six quarters to achieve. The program is designed to offer students a degree to prepare them for a variety of careers in the golf industry with occupations including turf management, pro shop management, equipment representative or sales, and servicing.
