Hints for Webkinz Gem Hunt

Webkinz is an online virtual world, where users interact with virtual pets and play games. One feature of Webkinz is the Gem Hunt, which is found by visiting the Curio Shop. Arte, the Curio Shop's owner, allows you to enter the gem mines once per day. Once you find all 30 hidden gems, Arte awards you with a Crown of Wonder. Your Webkinz virtual pet can wear the Crown of Wonder to show off the achievement.

Gem Locations

There are five gem colors: red, yellow, green, blue and white. Each color boasts six gems, for a total of 30 gems. The 30 gems are scattered over five different mines. Each mine is home to one rare gem, in addition to the other common and uncommon gems it houses.

Rare gems are level 1 gems and include the Webkinz Diamond, Corona Topaz and the Ocean Sapphire. There are five level 1 gems.

Uncommon gems are level 2 gems, such as the Ember Amber, Unicorn Horn and the Sea Stone. There are 10 level 2 gems.

Common gems are level 3 gems, including the Zingoz Zincoz, the Lava Lump and the Lemon Drop. There are 15 common level 3 gems.

Knowing where to find the gems you need for your Crown of Wonder speeds up your quest by narrowing your search to specific mines. However, the exact location within the mine is random and changes upon every visit.

Howling Horse Mine:
This mine carries all blue gems. You can also find the level 2 green gems (Moss Marble and Cat's Eye Glint) and all level 3 red and white gems. Additionally, this is the only mine that contains the Ocean Sapphire.

Barking Mad Mine:
This mine contains all yellow gems. It houses the level 2 blue gems, the Teardrop Tower and Sea Stone. You can also find level 3 green and red gems. This mine is the only location to get the Corona Topaz gem.

Flea Floater Mine:
This mine has all the green gems and is the only location to acquire the Earth Emerald. Additionally, you can uncover level 2 red gems (the Volcano Viscose and Ember Amber) and level 3 yellow and green gems.

Muzzle Mouth Mine:
Muzzle Mouth Mine houses all red gems, and is the only mine to carry the Ruby Red Heart. Also found here are the level 2 white gems (the Unicorn Horn and Yum Zum Sparkle) and the level 3 blue and yellow gems.

Buried Bones Mine:
Here you can find all the white gems. This is the only mine to uncover the Webkinz Diamond. Level 2 yellow gems (Pyramid Plunder and Aurora Rox) and level 3 blue and green gems can also be discovered here.

Earning Multiple Crowns of Wonder

Any extra gems earned while working on your Crown of Wonder are kept in your account. You can use the extra gems to earn another Crown of Wonder.

If you plan to earn multiple Crowns of Wonder, keep multiples of the rare gems--such as the Webkinz Diamond--when you find them, rather than sell them. This makes completing multiple crowns faster.

Once you earn your Crown of Wonder, you can sell it for 2250 KinzCash. There is no limit to how many Crowns you can earn.

Gem Box

View your gem box before entering the mines. Note which gems you still need for your Crown of Wonder. This prevents you from accidentally selling a gem you need. If you find a gem and know you already have it, you can sell it to Arte for KinzCash. If you find a gem while in the mines, you cannot access your gem box to see if you have it. You must decide to keep your gem or sell it to Arte right after finding a gem.

Gem of the Day

Before entering the gem mines, Arte tells you which is the Gem of the Day. If you find that gem, Arte offers extra KinzCash if you choose to sell it to him.
