Art Activities for Easter
Get into the Easter spirit with some art activities that highlight the holiday's theme. Use the projects as seasonal decorations in your home or office or give them as favors at an Easter party. Pastels are popular around Easter, so consider using them in your art activities. Adults and children can both enjoy making crafts that focus on this holiday. Does this Spark an idea?

Hand Print Easter Basket
-
Use this basket as a colorful wall or door hanging during the Easter season. Cut the shape of the bottom part of a basket--minus the handle--out of construction paper. If you're not a good artist, just make the basket bottom look like an upside-down top hat or an oval. Cut ovals out of different construction paper colors to use as Easter eggs. Finally, cut out hand prints from several different colors of construction paper. Cut a slit in the top of the basket and glue the eggs inside the slit so it looks like they are sticking out of the top of the basket. Create a handle out of the hand prints, pasting them together so that they overlap.
Paper Plate Bunny
-
This art project is especially fun for younger children. Cut out bunny ears from white construction paper. Cut smaller ear shapes from pink construction paper. Glue the pink shape inside the white one, creating a white ear with a pink interior. Glue or staple the ears to the back of the top of a paper plate. Draw eyes on the plate with a black marker, or glue on jiggly eyes purchased from the craft store. Draw a triangle nose and a small mouth. Glue three pink pipe cleaners on either side of the nose for whiskers.

Easter Egg Door Hanger
-
Make an Easter egg door hanger to go on a child's bedroom door or the door of your home. Cut a large Easter egg shape out of poster board. In pencil, draw on stripes, polka dots or another design. Have your child color or paint the egg, or let the child glue torn strips of colored tissue paper on to make an abstract Easter egg that has lots of texture. Punch a hole near the top of the egg and thread a colorful ribbon through the hole to create a hanger for the egg.
