Soft and comfortable carpets can be elegant as well as functional. Carpet is like a foundation for your room. Build your style from the carpet up. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Saxony

    • Saxony refers to a type of carpet created by woven loops. Weaved fabric is densely sewed together, creating a soft fiber. Saxony carpets are known for their luxurious quality and plush feeling. New versions of Saxony carpets are stain-resistant. This type of carpet is ideal for master bedrooms or formal living rooms. A disadvantage to using Saxony carpet is tracking marks from its soft texture. The carpet creates footprint or shoe tracks from people walking on it. This could be a deterrent for people who like to see only the vacuum lines on a carpet. However, frequent vacuuming can fluff the carpet so the marks disappear.

    Velvet

    • Velvet carpet is constructed of lightly twisted tufts, which create a dense fabric. The thick, luxurious softness of velvet carpet is ideal for family rooms. Velvet carpets create an elegant environment for formal rooms, too. This type of carpet is classified as high quality, according to carpet.org. Though soft and comfortable, there is a downside to installing velvet carpet. Because of its soft texture, crushing of carpet occurs from high traffic. The carpet fabric can also take on odd shading from high foot traffic.

    Cable

    • Cable carpet is soft and cozy under feet. It is made of thick, long yarn. Cable carpets are also visually appealing and inviting. Bedrooms and living rooms are ideal for cable carpet. It allows for elegance along with the relaxing underfoot texture. However, cable carpet flattens easily from high foot traffic. The soft fibers tend to crush over time from people walking on it. Cable carpet is not suitable for stairs and other busy parts of the home.
