Cutthroat racquetball is intense cardiovascular sport for three people

Racquetball provides people with one of the best aerobic workouts in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Cutthroat racquetball is a variation on the typical contest, pitting three players against each other in the game.

  1. The Setup

    • Three players play the game and decide who will serve first. The server prepares to serve the ball from the server's box while the other two players stand behind him, one on each side of the court. After the server delivers the first ball, one of the other players makes the first return. After making the return, the server is the next player who has to hit the ball. After the server makes his hit, the third player has to hit the ball. The round rotates from the server to each of the other two players. If a player is not up to return the ball, he has to move out of the way so the proper player can get in position to make the return.

    Scoring

    • The only way a player scores points in Cutthroat racquetball is if the server wins the point. To win the point, the server has to hit a ball the other two players are unable to return. If this happens, the same server sets up and the round begins again. If one of the other players is able to hit a ball the server is unable to return, no one scores points and the server position rotates to the next player.

    Winning the Game

    • Strategies for the server trying to score points include hitting the ball directly at the opposing player not in line to hit that particular return. This causes the opposition to get in each other's way, giving a slight advantage to the server. The game plays to as many points as the players want. A normal score is 21 but it can be more or less depending on what players decide before starting the game. A server has to win the game by more than two points for the game to end.
