The Benefits of a Representative Job thumbnail
Company representatives work closely with clients, and are able to benefit the profitability of a company.

The two main type of company representatives are customer service reps and sales reps. While each of these careers feature different duties and objectives, the benefits for each position are similar. A company representative is a vital aspect to any business as these professionals closely interact with customers to ensure the customer obtains the best product/service and any questions or concerns are answered promptly.

  1. Intimate Client Interactions

    • Dealing closely with customers is a common job function for a sales representative or a customer service representative. Through one-on-one interactions, a representative is able to gain a better understanding of what the customer's needs are and how they can be met. This benefits not only the representative, but also the company as the representative can take information learned through these client interactions and inform their managers of possible alterations that should be made to products or services. These intimate client interactions also create customer loyalty, which benefits commission-based sales representatives as it increases the possibility of return customers and referrals, while benefiting the company by ensuring products and services are being sold.

    Product/Service Knowledge

    • One of the main benefits of being a company representative is the amount of product/service information he is required to learn. This will benefit the representative in not only selling products, but also supporting customers who have questions regarding the product or service. By having a vast knowledge of company services and products, a representative can help create customer loyalty, which will ensure repeat business and customer referrals.

    Resolving Conflicts

    • Resolving conflicts within a business is one of the main duties of a customer service representative. While dealing with upset customers is not ideal for any representative, being able to quickly resolve a conflict will help save a customer and prevent a loss in profit by reducing the likelihood of a product/service return or exchange. One of the main benefits of resolving conflicts is increasing a representative's ability to communicate with customers in an effective manner.
