Not being able to afford cancer treatment or not having medical insurance can cause more unwarranted stress. There are non-profit organizations that provide help for individuals that are unable to cover treatments. Grants for cancer are available to those who qualify.

      • CancerCare offers grants for expenses to cover cancer treatments. AVON cares offers grants to individuals with breast cancer to cover homecare, transportation and childcare. Linking A.R.M.S. in connection with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation provides grants to breast cancer patients to cover expenses that include treatment for oral and hormonal chemotherapy, lymphoma supplies, nausea medication, durable equipment and aftercare.

        Myeloma patients can receive grants through the Door-to-Door program. Grant funds cover travel expenses such as parking and gasoline, pain medication, childcare and homecare. Children can also receive a grant to cover transportation, homecare, medication and childcare.

      Colorectal CareLine

      • A non-profit association, the Patient Advocate Foundation provides case management and support for individuals with life-threatening, chronic illnesses including cancer. Individuals with colorectal cancer may receive $400 for financial aid through the Colorectal Care program. Applicants must have an annual income of $75,000 or less. Grant funds cover childcare, food costs, transportation reimbursement and temporary lodging. Applicants have an option to complete their applications by phone by calling the Colorectal CareLine.
