The Advantages of Sachets

These convenient, small packets are also filled with perfumed powder to freshen closets, drawers and trunks. Although these small packets offer several advantages, one of the main rewards is adding a scented aroma throughout the home environment.

Add Fresh Scents with Potpourri Sachets
-
One of the main advantages of introducing sachets filled with potpourri into your drawers, closets, trunks and bedroom is the instantaneous freshening scent. These packets are available with decorative ribbons to hang in your closet or as flat square-shaped packets to place in between folded items in your dresser drawers. Sachets are also available in decorative shapes such as hearts with perfumed padding and decorative trims. As an extra bonus, the soft perfume scent adds a light romantic fragrance and aroma to your bedroom space.
Add Flavor with Sachet d’Epices
-
Cheesecloth sacks filled with dried spices and herbs are generally referred to as sachet d’epices, which is the French word for spice. One of the main culinary advantages of is the added flavor to your stocks. Tie butcher’s twine to the herb and spice sachet, and dangle it into your stock as it simmers. As an alternative, make your own sachet d’epices of dried herbs by tying a bundle of your favorite herbs--such as dill, thyme, basil and chives--and placing it upside down inside a paper bag. Close the bag by tying a string around the top, and hang it in a well-ventilated room for about two weeks. Once the herbs are dry, remove the herbs from their stems and fill individual cheesecloth sacks with each herb. You will be able to enjoy your favorite dried herbs for at least a year.

Relaxing Your Environment
-
Creating a calming and relaxing environment for your bedroom is one of the advantages of incorporating soothing scented sachets into your resting space. Decorate a plain bowl with scented sachets, such as lavender and vanilla, to create a soft-smelling aroma to help you fall asleep. Although sachets are relatively inexpensive, opt to create your own with your favorite store-bought potpourri scents. Choose sheer fabrics such as organza, georgette or linen, and stitch several bags. Always leave one end open to fill it with potpourri, and stitch the end closed by turning in the seams. As a decorative alternative, cut out your own shapes such as hearts, flowers or round, pillow-like sachets, and add trims such as tack-on rosebuds or bows.
