Picture Search Games for Kids

Picture search games are a great way to keep kids entertained, while keeping their brain stimulated at the same time. There are three main types of picture searching games. The first game is one where the goal is to find various different objects within a picture. The second picture searching game is one where the object is to find an object amongst very similar ones. Finally, the third game is played by comparing two or more pictures to find which picture is not the same (or what does not belong in the picture).

  1. Finding Objects Within a Picture

    • Finding different objects within a picture is one of the most frequently played picture searching games by kids (adults even enjoy this game as well). This form of picture searching game is most often a background picture (generally a scenery, building, room, etc.) with hidden objects throughout. In some instances the hidden objects are made aware to the player in a picture bank, sometimes only the number of hidden objects is given and other times the player must find the objects without any idea what they are looking for. The player circles the items as they find them. Circling the objects in different colors will help to distinguish one item from another.

Finding Different Objects Amongst Similar Ones

    • Finding a different object amongst many similar ones is also a great picture searching game for kids. This game is usually depicted as the object pictured over and over again, with a few of the objects throughout the picture slightly different. For example, the goal of the picture search game would be to find five four-leaf clovers in a picture with very many three-leaf clovers. This game can be very difficult as the objects are so similar, but also very rewarding for the child once they have completed it.

    Comparing Two Pictures

    • Comparing two pictures to find what is wrong in one of them can be a fun and silly picture searching game for kids to play. Most often, this game is illustrated as one original picture and another picture (right next to it) that has been altered. The goal is to find all of the things that are different in the altered picture. Generally the player will be given the number of things wrong in the picture to search for. An example of this would be an original picture is of a woman in a shopping mall carrying her purse. The altered picture might have her hair a different color and she would be carrying a sand pail instead. This form of picture searching game is fun for kids and challenging at the same time.
