Interesting Ideas for Handmade Cards
Handmade cards show you genuinely care and took the time to make a one-of-a-kind card with the receiver in mind. Making handmade cards also stimulate your creativity and can even lead to your own business. Before you begin your project, go out in nature for inspiration while you think about the receiver's interests. Get the basic supplies you need, such as cardstock paper, glue, ribbon, jewelry-making items, pen and ink from arts and craft stores or online.

Pressed Flower Cards
-
If you know the recipient loves flowers, press flowers for your handmade card. Personalize your handmade card even more by pressing flowers from your own garden. Place fresh flower blooms between pages of an old telephone book or newspaper sheet layers. For a sturdy, firm surface, place a telephone book or newspaper on a board, and then put another board on top. Weigh the board down using something heavy, such as a stack of books. In two to four weeks, you will have colorful, pressed flowers that you can glue to your handmade cards.
Birthstone Cards
-
When you attach the recipient's birthstone to the card with permanent craft glue, your card can also serve as a birthday gift. Add the birthstone's meaning along with your birthday wishes to complete the card.

Religious and Spiritual Cards
-
Create a handmade card to reflect your recipient's religious preference or spiritual belief. For instance, your handmade card may contain a cross made out of pieces of wood and glue, along with a Bible verse and your message. Other materials for your cross can include copper, gold or sterling silver jewelry wire, which you can bend and cut into a cross shape. Add jewelry beads or semi-precious stones to the wire before gluing it onto the card. You can also glue beads or stones directly onto the card in the shape of a cross.
