The YMCA in Arlington, about a half-hour from Mansfield, offers the Little Learners Summer Camp for children between 3 and 5 years of age. Each weeklong session is operated on a half-day basis from 9 a.m. to noon every weekday. The program has a different theme every week, including the Superstars theme, which provides a week of song and dance instruction, culminating in a performance for parents at the end of the week. Little Green Thumbs spends the week teaching about gardening, and in Going Buggy campers are entertained by creeping and crawling insects. Museum Makers re-create works of art, and Scientific Cooking has campers creating delectable dishes in the kitchen. Each session at Little Learners Camp is available for $65 for full members and $80 per week for program members, as of 2010.

Summer Day Camp

The Summer Day Camp at the Arlington YMCA is intended for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Campers spend their day at camp immersed in myriad activities, including swimming, arts and crafts, fitness activities and weekly field trips. Children are encouraged to develop teamwork skills through group games and outdoor education. Swimming takes places two days each week, while the remainder of the week is spent rotating between the various other activities. At least once each week, campers participate in theme days, which include "Rolling Out the Red Carpet," "Christmas in July" and "Survivor Challenge." This weeklong day camp is available for $120 for full members and $130 for program members as of 2010.

The Tween & Teen Arts and Action Camps at the Arlington YMCA offer a variety of different themes for children between 9 and 14 years of age. Dance camp teaches hip-hop and jazz routines throughout the week and ends with a performance for parents. Sports Camp gets participants involved in football, basketball, soccer and volleyball. Anime Camp teaches the drawing techniques in Japanese anime cartoons. Campers at Star Wars Camp explore behind the scenes computer animation and filmmaking through games, crafts and adventures. Campers participate in water games at Wet and Wild Water Sports Camp, including "water balloon baseball" and "super soaker tag." Each of these exciting sessions are available for $65 for full members and $80 for program members, according to summer 2010 prices.
