Wood Badge Gifts
Begun by Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts movement, in 1919, the Wood Badge is a training course undertaken by many adult scouting leaders each year. Candidates live on a campsite for a week, learning the key leadership and practical skills needed for scouting. On completion, successful candidates receive items including a certificate and wooden beads on a leather thong. Many commemorative gifts are available, which often incorporate the Wood Badge emblem into their designs.

Patrol Flags
-
These sets of eight flags are printed on twill fabric and come in a beige color. Each of the eight designs features the wooden log that serves as the Wood Badge logo, as well as a picture of one of the several animals associated with the scouting movement. These include the fox, bear, eagle and owl. As of July 2010, the set was available, priced at $32, from the Scout Graphics website.
Course Director Chair
-
A specially designed director’s chair is another type of Wood Badge gift. The chair and its fabric panels can be purchased separately and sent to Scout Graphics, who will customize the panels with the wooden log logo of the Wood Badge, along with other scouting insignia. The name of the course director can also be printed on the back of the chair to further personalize the gift. According to prices from July 2010, customization of the chair seat costs $35 while the chair back will cost $20 to decorate.

Staff Dog Tags
-
These metal dog tags can be worn by the course leader during a Wood Badge training course, or alternatively given to any members of staff within a scouting troup who have completed the Wood Badge course. Each dog tag is constructed of stainless steel, is 0.8mm thick, and comes with a 28-inch ball chain. The dog tag is engraved with the words "Wood Badge Staff’ in black letters, incorporating the log and axe logo, and each costs $3.50, as of July 2010 prices, from the Woodbadge Store.
Gilwell T-Shirts
-
Commemorative T-shirts are a reliable gift idea, but these designs from the Cafe Press company have a historical edge to them, since with the slogan ‘I’m In A Gilwell State Of Mind," they reference Gilwell Park in the United Kingdom, where the very first Wood Badge course was run back in 1919 by Lord Baden-Powell, and where reunion events are still held each year. The T-shirts come in several colors, including pink, white and yellow, and of July 2010, retail at roughly $26.
