Summer Day Camps in Western New York
Western New York includes varied cities, such as Rochester, Niagara Falls and Buffalo. Visitors and residents enjoy mild summers since Western New York is in close proximity to Lakes Ontario and Erie, which provides a cool breeze. This region is home to the Buffalo Bills National Football League team, the famed Niagara Falls and the historic site of Erie Canal. Children may also enroll in a Western New York summer camp to keep busy during the summer.

Girls Scouts of Western New York offer a variety of camp programs, including the Groovy Girls program, where girls design a personal groovy girl personality. Another program available is Spa Timbercrest, where campers engage in relaxation techniques and receive facials. Activities include teamwork, crafts, hiking and outdoor cooking.
Day camp locations include Camp Windy Meadows, Camp Timbercrest and Camp Sky High. Camp Timbercrest also operates a day camp and overnight camp program.
Girls do not have to be a current Girl Scout to participate, however, a girl may join the scouts if she desires.

Alfred University Summer Camp

Alfred University, situated in Alfred, New York, offers summer camp programs from July to August. Activities include swimming, movies, games and cookouts by the campfire. Summer camps include equestrian camps, lacrosse team camps, soccer team camp and football team camps.
The summer day camp program accepts children ages 8 to 16 years old, depending on the camp. Camps are typically one week long, however, campers may enroll in additional sessions.
The camp fee ranges from $150 to $800 per week as of 2010.

YMCA Buffalo Niagara offers a variety of specialty and traditional summer camp programs for ages 3 to 15 years old. Children 3 to 6 years old may participate in the Young Explorers program where they engage in arts, outdoor activities, storytelling and swimming. The Day Camp provides 5- to 11-year-olds field trips, sports, crafts, swimming and games. Specialty camps include theater camp, gymnastics camp and mountain biking camp. Another camp is Resident Camp Weona for ages 7 to 16 years old.
Campers may stay either for one or two weeks, and receive swim lessons, fishing, indoor climbing and horseback riding.
Camp fees range from an estimated $180 to $225 per week.
