Baby Nursery Decorating Idea List
The decorations for a baby nursery must always be safe. In planning and orchestrating the decorations always keep the safety of a growing baby in mind. The healthy growing baby is a voraciously curious human being. Discovery of self and environment is made in a number of ways. One of these methods is sucking. Avoid any use of small objects that might mysteriously wind up in the baby’s mouth or cause strangulation. This fact must be ever present in the mind of the designer executing a design plan for the decorations of a baby’s nursery. Does this Spark an idea?

Wall-mounted Pegs
-
Keep clutter to an absolute minimum. Use huge pegs mounted on one wall as decoration. Apply two coats of oil-based paint in the nursery’s predominate color, different from the wall color. Allow 48 hours of cure time between applications. Apply a coat of polyurethane to finish. Mount the pegs on the wall in a straight line. Use the pegs to hang a towel, a blanket and an empty diaper bag. Since these items are all baby-centered, they will lend themselves in concert with the pegs to establish the nursery theme.
Shadow Box Puppet Theater
-
The shadow box hand puppet theater is an item into which the enjoyment and appreciation of the developing infant will mature. Paint a shuttered 36-inch-square, extra-deep shadow box. Mount the box on the wall. Attach a music box that is activated when the shadow box doors open. The doors open to reveal a mirror and small hand puppets mounted on the wall. Encourage self discovery in those late-night or early morning hours by using the shadow box and puppets with the baby. Any and all facial features on the puppets must be of embroidery.

Wall-mounted Xylophones
-
Xylophones for children are traditionally painted in primary colors. Purchase the time-honored and trusted labels for the xylophone. Avoid cheap imports from countries with low safety standards and no enforcement agencies. Buy a minimum of seven xylophones in different sizes. Mount the xylophones on the same wall in a collage, scattered and staggered at different heights. Attach the accompanying sticks by a piece of hook-and-loop fastener to each xylophone in a different spot.
