Activities to Keep Kids Busy
Keeping kids entertained can be difficult, and it is even more challenging during holidays or school vacations. Fortunately, there are a number of safe, engaging activities, both indoor and outdoor, that will keep children entertained for hours at a time. Does this Spark an idea?

Indoors
-
Indoor entertainment can range from watching a favorite movie while dressed as a character to structured projects such as adult-led history lessons in the form of writing and creating a play. Giving children a space and opportunity to make messes can keep them busy for hours. Kids can enjoy a variety of safe and easy arts and crafts avtivities with little adult supervision, including paper mache art, coloring and beading. Games such as fort building can be taken to a whole new level with adult assistance. Acquire a large cardboard box such as a refrigerator box and have the kids design their own playhouse. You could even let your child plan a meal or party and then help purchase and prepare the food for it.
Outdoors
-
Outdoor play is limited only by the imagination, parental rules and safety concerns. If adult supervision is available, building a treehouse or playhouse out of recycled parts can be a valuable learning experience for kids. For a less structured approach to large groups of kids, you can prepare a healthy backyard picnic. Toys like squirt guns are ideal for summer, while empty jars for catching bugs inspire kids to explore and ask questions. Field trips and mini weekend vacations may also be a way to introduce kids to new situations, such as fruit picking farms, historical sites, and comics and anime conventions.

Somewhere Else
-
Sometimes it's hard to find the time to create and implement projects for your kids, but fortunately there are many activities that they can do away from the home. There are hundreds of day camps all over the country that will provide a range of summer activities for your kids, you just need to pick one out. Community libraries usually have reading groups for a few hours on weekends, and some have story time for preschoolers. Public arts centers are like large art classrooms where kids and adults can get messy creating art together. If you're going on vacation, most resorts offer children's activities under the supervision of babysitters so that parents can have time alone.
