The sunny state of Florida boasts a subtropical or tropical climate year round, which helps to make it a popular destination for those looking to cure the winter blues. There are a number of scenic, restful RV parks in the state that are available for citizens of 55 years of age or older.

Lake Bonnet Village

Lake Bonnet Village is a 55-and-over, resident-owned RV resort located on the shores of Lake Bonnet, a 260-acre lake in Avon Park. The park consists of 175 RV sites, all of which have access to 30- or 50- amp electric hookups, as well as water, cable TV and a dump station. Up to two pets per RV are welcome at the park. Lake Bonnet Village offers daily and weekly rates. Monthly rates are available in increments of one to two months, three months and four to six months. Amenities include a laundry, restrooms and showers. The park also offers two boat ramps, a fish-cleaning station, two heated pools and a hot tub.

Alligator Park Mobile Home and RV Park

Alligator Park is a resident-owned RV park for people aged 55 and up in Punta Gorda. Alligator Park offers daily, weekly and monthly rates, with a slight variation in prices depending on the season. Sites come with 30- or 50-amp electric hookups. Pets of all types including dogs, cats and birds are allowed at the park, with the exception of guard dogs such as pit bulls and rottweilers. Amenities include an on-site pool, 50 acres of paved, lighted paths for walking and biking, and a clubhouse.

Orbit RV Park

Orbit RV Park is a 55-plus campground located in Grant, just south of Palm Bay. Situated by the Indian river, Orbit offers grassy RV sites, many of which come with picnic tables and are large enough to accommodate big rigs. Both 30-amp and 50-amp electric hookups are available, as well as water, sewer and cable TV. Amenities include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a fishing dock and a clubhouse with dial-up Internet. Orbit RV Park offers daily, weekly and months rates, which vary in price depending on the season. Small pets are welcome at the park, with some restrictions.
