Handmade crafts add charm and personality to a country home. Animal crafts are a part of country décor and rabbits are a particularly popular subject. Country crafts with rabbit themes come in a variety of materials and many can be made by both children and adults. Handmade country rabbit crafts will bring your home a nice country touch.

  1. Wood

    • Cut the silhouette of a running rabbit from wood and mount it on a stick anchored in a wooden block to form a miniature weather vane. Distress the weather vane for a more rustic, primitive look or paint it a bright blue or red to add a splash of color to your fireplace mantel, bookshelf or window sill.

Stencil a rabbit motif onto a weathered board. Add a caption like “Hop on In” and hang the sign in your foyer or on your front door.

Mount small wooden rabbits on a grapevine wreath and add brightly colored eggs, ribbons and yellow and blue flowers. Place it on your front door or hang it on a wall to welcome spring.

    Fabric

    • Create a stuffed rabbit using fabric from an old quilt. Add button eyes and sew on a nose and mouth using embroidery thread.

Needlepoint or embroider a rabbit pattern on a piece of muslin. Back it with fabric in a country pattern like calico and stuff it to make an accent pillow.

Sew or sculpt a rabbit doll. Dress it in clothes made from denim, checkered material, ticking or calico. Add a straw hat and set it in a child-size rocking chair on your front porch.

Sew a bunny flag and include some flowers and Easter eggs in the pattern. Fly it in the spring.

    Paper

    • Add ears, eyes and whiskers cut from construction paper to a round, pink crepe paper party decoration. Use a white pom pom for the ears. You can buy the ball where ever party decorations are sold.

Draw the outline of rabbits in a country scene like a farm yard, a garden or a field of sunflowers. Rip paper into bits and fill in the outlines. Decoupage your picture onto a board that you have antiqued for a rustic look.

Layer paper mache over a balloon. When it is dry, pop the balloon and paint the paper mache shape like a bunny. Add construction paper ears, feet and whiskers.
