Picture Framing Ideas
Picture frames can help set the mood of a picture. The right frame should enhance the colors and emotion of the picture. It can also help set the decor of your home or office. More modern homes can take minimalist frames, while frames made with antique wood complement more rustic homes. No matter your choice, a well-chosen picture frame can make a picture stand out. Does this Spark an idea?

Antique Wood
-
Unfinished antique or reclaimed wood can add an old-world charm to your vintage pictures. You can purchase reclaimed wood at craft or hardware stores, or you can pull it off of an old barn or fence. Leaving the wood unfinished gives a rustic look. Simply hammer together four strips of wood and attach a plastic or glass window to the back. You can also distress new wood to make it look antique.
Glass
-
Another way to frame your pictures is to display them between two pieces of unframed glass that have been clamped together by a base. This minimalist approach essentially frames the picture in negative space. Because there is no chunky frame to distract, the picture stands out more. This type of frame is particularly appropriate in an office or a home with modern decor.

Paint Yourself
-
You can purchase an unfinished picture frame and paint and finish it yourself. This is reminiscent of pointillistic painter Georges Seurat, who painted frames to echo his paintings. You can paint your picture frame to look like your picture has extended beyond itself into the frame. If a picture is intended for a child’s room, consider helping the child paint the frame.
