Small Environmental Grants
Governmental and private organizations award hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars worth of grants for major environmental undertakings. But for smaller efforts, a few thousand dollars might suffice. People seeking small environmental grants can seek them from groups ranging from the mainstream U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the more radical activist organization Patagonia.

The grant program looks to fund groups that want to protect specific forests, rivers or wildlife species. "We look for innovative groups that produce measurable results, and we like to support efforts that force the government to abide by its own--our own--laws," Patagonia says on its website.
