Idaho Energy Grants
There are many Idaho energy grants. Some funds are granted through the 2009 federal Stimulus Act and some are granted through the federal Farm Bill of 2008. Both funding sources expend grants through 2012, at which point re-authorization from Congress is necessary. Each of these grant programs promotes renewable energy and energy efficiency, though the Farm Bill also emphasizes bio-based energy, including biofuels.

Stimulus Funding- Renewable Energy
-
The Idaho Office of Energy Resources provides grants to cities and counties who can receive funds to install renewable energy projects in government buildings or implement methane capture technologies. Methane is produced in large quantities from animal farming operations, making Idaho a good place for these technologies. Over two million dollars was made available for these projects.

A dammed river that is used to supply hydroelectric power. The Idaho Office of Energy Resources has already allocated over one million dollars to solar, biomass, waste-to- energy programs and hydropower projects. The money went to city and county buildings that installed and/or relied on these projects in place of conventional energy sources. Idaho uses hydroelectricity as its main power source.

Farm Bill Funding - Title IX Renewable Energy Provisions
-
While Idaho stakeholders must compete for grants with other states, the 2008 Farm Bill allocated significant funding for bioenergy projects. For instance, $150 million has been made available for biorefinery assistance every year through 2012; renewable biomass projects have access to $15 million every year for the same time period. The funds are allocated through the United States Department of Agricultural Economic Research Service.
