Creighton University offers master's and doctoral degrees in occupational therapy. Creighton has the China Honors Immersion Program (CHIP) which allows students to gain practice experience working in facilities in China through an exchange program. A similar program is offered in conjunction with the Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC). Portions of the program may be provided through distance learning, including entry-level coursework and a post-professional distance program.

The University of Toledo

The University of Toledo (UT) offers master's and doctoral degrees in occupational therapy. The program includes a four-course research sequence to encourage students to undertake research in an area relevant to practice. Specialization areas include pediatrics, gerontology, hand therapy, community-based practice, management, advocacy and education. UT has an exchange program with Karolinska Institute of Stockholm to provide the opportunity for field experience abroad.

Belmont University

Belmont University has doctoral and master's programs in occupational therapy. The master's program may be completed by taking weekend classes. Washington University in St. Louis (WUSL) has a Ph.D. and Master's program in occupational therapy. The research in the program focuses on six areas: productive aging, work and industry, social participation and the environment, pediatrics, cognition and rehabilitation science. The Community Practice Program (CPP) offers placements in the following settings: in-home services, functional fitness for persons with Parkinson's disease, mental health case management, sickle cell clinic, naturally occurring retirement community (NORC), enabling mobility center, occupational performance center and central institute for the deaf.

Grand Valley State University

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) has a 97 percent pass rate for first-time test takers on the National Board Certified Occupational Therapist (NBCOT) exam, the highest pass rate in the state of Michigan. GVSU has the Human Occupations Lab, which is a lab where students learn splinting techniques and fabrication of assistive devices and the Miner S. and Mary Ann Keeler Home Health Laboratory Model Living (ADL) Suite, which provides a virtual home environment for clients to learn daily living skills. GVSU has a master's degree program that may be completed over the weekends.
