Early childhood education is an important developmental part of a child's life. According to a report on early childhood, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, early childhood education is an essential investment because it paves the way for future leaders and greatly benefits society, even if only many years down the road. The city of Seattle has dozens of early childhood education centers, some funded by the state and some, privately owned.

According to their website, Marji's House provides passionate instruction and produces exceptional students ready for their educational careers. Services offered by Marji's House include help from the Head Start Center, unique teaching methods, parental advice and accredited preschool education.

Seattle Step Ahead Program

The Step Ahead program, funded by the city, is an affordable and culturally versatile preschool program for the children of Seattle, ages 3 years and 4 years. The curriculum of the program prepares students for a life of learning and critical thinking. The program runs from September to June each year, three-and-a-half-hours per day, four or five days per week. Curricular concepts include language and reading, math, science, physical education, art, social skills and social studies. The program is allotted a little under $2 million dollars per school year, as of 2009-2010 and according to the Seattle Human Services Department.

Little Eagles Child Development Center

Little Eagles Child Development Center is located in the heart of downtown Seattle and offers nonprofit early child development education at low or no cost for children ages six weeks to 5 years. The program serves as childcare and education-provider simultaneously. Despite the school's acceptance of any child, many of the children who attend the center belong to parents who work downtown, many of whom stop by on lunch breaks to relax in the parents' living room area. Little Eagles has indoor and enclosed and secured outdoor play areas.
