Things to Put on Flash Drives
A flash drive is a small device you plug into the USB port of your computer. You can move or copy nearly anything on your hard drive to the flash drive. Flash drives come in a variety of memory sizes such as eight gigabytes (GB) and 32 GB. A flash drive will fit in your pocket and can be plugged into another computer, providing you with access to the files you have saved.

Family Documents
-
Your flash drive is like a miniature safe deposit box. Insurance companies tell you to store important legal and financial documents in a safe deposit box so that in the event of a house fire or other disaster, they are safe. With the use of a flash drive, you can have another back-up of important files. Copy items such as mortgage papers, insurance information, your will and marital papers onto a flash drive for safekeeping. Keep the flash drive in a safe location outside your home, possibly your safe deposit box. You can take videos inside your home to document your belongings and furnishings for insurance purposes and save the videos on that flash drive. Keeping copies of important documents on a flash drive with you allows you quick access to them, when needed, and gives you the ability to send copies through email, from wherever your are.
Work
-
Whether you take work home from the office or work from remote locations, using your flash drive as a portable desktop means you always have access to important work documents and projects. Save instructions for a project you're working on, designs you're in the middle of creating and client contact information on your flash drive. If you travel for work, having your work information on a flash drive means you never have to worry about forgetting something important on your desk. You can also save certain computer applications on your flash drive to use on days you work away from the office.

Memories
-
A flash drive can serve as a photo album. Save photos, videos and other special memories from your computer to your flash drive. Photo and video files can fill a lot of hard drive space on your computer. When you save these files on your flash drive, you free up that space for other things. Having photos on a flash drive also gives you the opportunity to get your photos printed at a store. Many stores have self-serve photo centers that allow you to plug in your flash drive and print photos at the machine. Keeping photos on your flash drive is similar to carrying around a photo album, except that the flash drive is much more hi-tech and takes up less space.
