There are a number of archery clubs in Iowa.

Archery, as a means of survival, dates back thousands of years. It was used for hunting and protection. Today, archery is considered a recreational sport, and is enjoyed by bow enthusiasts and hunters alike. Beginner bowmen and skilled archers, called toxophilites, participate in archery club activities and archery competition. There are a number of archery clubs in Iowa, many offer training and education to adults and children.

  1. Benton County Archers

    • Benton County Archers club is located in Van Horne in East Central Iowa, approximately 25 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids. The club first opened its doors to fellow archer enthusiasts in the early 1980s. It offers a 20-yard indoor archery shooting range that is open year around, and a 40-yard 3-D target capacity outdoor range. Club meetings are held at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse on the first Thursday of each month, excluding holidays. Benton County Archers is an affiliate of the Iowa Bowhunters Association, and always welcomes new members both young and old.

    Mid Iowa Archers

    • The Mid Iowa Archers, headquartered in Indianola, in Central Iowa, less than 20 miles south of Des Moines, was established in 2003. The club prides itself on being family friendly and community active. They have a number of ranges and courses including a practice range, a 40-yard target course with a tower shot, and a private outdoor 3-D target range and a 10- to 40-yard archery range accessible from the Lake Ahquabi State Park at the Warren County Izaak Walton League. Outdoor courses incorporate different types of terrain for archery enthusiasts who wish for a little more challenge. The club hosts a number of family shooting potlucks, shooting competitions and tournaments throughout the year

    Waltonian Archers

    • Waltonian Archers club meets in the town of Toddville, in East Central Iowa, 13 miles north of Cedar Rapids. The club, established in 1935, offers traditional archery, 3-D target archery and field archery. It has a number of outdoor ranges located on 40 acres, as well as a 30-yard indoor range. The Waltonian Archers promote the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), and the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program, for kids who are beginner, intermediate and advanced archers. Club meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Through the year, Waltonian Archers hosts several archery classes, archery tournaments and archery-related charity events.
