A master's degree program can be completed in an online format to allow students the flexibility they seek to pursue further education while continue to work. The requirements for an online master's degree program vary with the institution and program selection each student chooses to pursue. Some programs require fewer credits than others and some require that the students complete a thesis, while others do not.

  1. Pennsylvania State University

    • Pennsylvania State University has an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program that does not require any specific prerequisite coursework. Students will complete this program in two years and are required to take 20 online courses which consist of financial and accounting tools, organizational behavior and performance, strategic analysis, financial management and accounting for external reporting. Students are also required to complete two residency experiences that last for one week each time.

    University of Bridgeport

    • The University of Bridgeport has an online human nutrition master's degree program that requires students to complete 31 credit hours of study prior to graduation and students must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0. All coursework must be completed within five years and in order for students in this online program to graduate, they will be required to successfully pass a comprehensive exam after they have completed all the coursework. Students are required to take courses that include biochemistry of nutrition, vitamins and minerals, developmental nutrition and nutritional therapeutics. University of Bridgeport also offers a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene program.

    Kansas State University

    • Kansas State University offers an online personal financial planning master's degree program that requires students to complete 42 credit hours of study before graduation. Students will be required to complete nine credit hours in courses in the core requirements that include family systems and financial counseling. Students will complete 21 credit hours in financial planning including courses such as fundamentals of financial planning and estate planning. Finally, students will complete scholarly courses in financial planning that total 12 hours. Students will not be required to complete a thesis but must complete two practicum experiences.

    University of South Florida

    • The University of South Florida offers an online physical education program that leads students to earning a Master of Arts degree at graduation. In order for students to be admitted into this online master's program, students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average in all undergraduate coursework. Once admitted into the program, students are required to choose between two options; one option is for those who already have a teaching certificate and the other is for those who do not have their teaching certificate. The required curriculum consists of 30 credit hours and includes courses such as foundations of measurement, foundations of educational research, clinical supervision in physical education and analysis of teaching in physical education.
