Practical Team Building Activities
Behind every successful business is a group of employees, ready and willing to work together. If your business has problems with employee retention or problems with employees not getting along, then team building exercises might help. These activities force your workers to help each other and work together to succeed in the task. Practical team building activities can do in the area surrounding your office and require few extra items.

Capture the Flag
-
Divide your group into two teams and give each team a bandanna, sheet or real flag. Give each team a designated area in the parking lot or another area around your office. The point is for the teams to find a way to steal and capture the flag of the other team. Each team must create a defense and an offense, trying to protect its flag, while also capturing the other team's flag. Once a player captures a flag, he needs to bring it back to his home base. It may take several hours for a winner to emerge.
Blindfolded Puzzle
-
Divide the group into several smaller groups. Ask each group to appoint a team leader and blindfold the other members. Arrange several puzzles near the groups and start the race. The team leader must direct his blindfolded teammates through the puzzles by telling them what to do. Each team must work together, listening to the leader and doing what he says. Give a small prize to the team that finishes first.

Photo Scavenger Hunt
-
Divide your group into multiple teams and have each pick a team leader to make decisions during the exercise. Give each team a digital camera or ask that employees bring in their own cameras from home. Give the teams a list of items they must find. When they find an item on the list, they take a photo of it, rather than bringing it back. Some potential items might include a famous landmark, a red car, a cat or a police officer. Give the teams a set time to return to the office. Each team's objective is to work together, find all the items and return first to the office.
