A variety of grants exists in the United States for diverse populations, such as people with disabilities, college students and minority groups. Minority groups such as women and African-Americans have unique opportunities to secure grant funding in career fields where ethnic groups have been historically underrepresented. An individual in a minority group can find funding through nonprofit organizations, charities, federal, state and local governments. The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) has information on 2,074 federal grant programs in health, agriculture and education. In addition, the Michigan Library online and the Foundation Center have valuable links and listings for grants, fellowships and scholarships for minorities.
