      • The University of Iowa's College of Education was recently ranked by "U.S. News and World Report" as the 22nd best public graduate school in America, with renowned programs in educational psychology and student counseling. The school counseling program offers a master's of arts degree to eligible students. It maintains a special focus on multicultural training, and requires a 100-hour practicum and a 600-hour internship.

      Northern Arizona University

      • Northern Arizona University (NAU) was recently ranked by "Forbes Magazine" among the top 100 public colleges, in addition to one of the nation's best collegiate values. NAU's College of Education offers a master's of arts program in school counseling and a master's of education program with an emphasis in school counseling. The master's of education program requires completion of 48 credit hours, and prepares students to become certified K-12 school counselors. The master's of arts program requires completion of 72 credit hours over the course of three years, and consists of the 48 hours needed for the master's of education degree, and 1,200 internship hours. It awards a master's degree and a certificate in school psychology to eligible students.
