Toronto, Canada's largest city, celebrates the multicultural nature of its diverse population throughout the year. Given its commitment to preserving its historic and cultural traditions, the city offers area residents opportunities to assist with special cultural events year-round as a volunteer.

Luminato Festival

Luminato, Toronto's annual Festival of Arts and Creativity, is held in June. Volunteers are needed to greet visitors at festival events and assist them with information during the 10-day event.
North by Northeast Music Festival and Conference

The annual North by Northeast Music Festival and Conference, otherwise known as NXNE, runs in June across Toronto. Canada's most anticipated summer music event showcases unsigned bands, independent acts and popular artists. It also runs concurrently with the NXNE Film Festival. Volunteers can join the Music Festival, Conference or Film Festival teams.

Pride Week

Toronto's Pride Week, which usually takes place at the end of June, is organized by the volunteer-run group Pride Toronto. Typically, volunteers assist with Pride events as a weekend helper, committee member or Board member.
Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park

As Canada's largest theater company, Canadian Stage re-creates Shakespearean plays every summer for the Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park. Volunteer duties include handling the donation box and greeting patrons; the event is suitable for high school students because the venue bans alcohol.
Canada Day

Canada Day celebrations take place every July 1 at Toronto's Mel Lastman Square to mark the nation's independence day. Volunteers are sought as information ambassadors.
Caribana Festival

Scotiabank Nuit Blanche

Scotiabank Nuit Blanche is Toronto's all-night celebration of the arts. The overnight event, first staged in 2006, is held in late September or early October. Volunteers are asked to pull an all-nighter and commit to 12 to 15 hours for Nuit Blanche.
Cavalcade of Lights

Toronto's Cavalcade of Lights begins in late November with the lighting of the city's Christmas tree, fireworks and musical performances in Nathan Phillips Square. Volunteers are needed as information ambassadors as the Cavalcade runs through the end of the year.
WinterCity

WinterCity offers a citywide celebration of culture, cuisine and creativity from late January through early February. Like Toronto's Cavalcade of Lights, volunteers are needed to provide information during the festivities.
