Room Remodeling Games

Room Remodeling Games thumbnail
Making up useful games is a good way to get the kids involved in any project.

It can be helpful to run the numbers before setting to work on a remodel as it will give you a better idea of what your budget is before you start generating ideas. It can also be helpful to cut out pictures from books and magazines, as well as furniture websites, so you'll have a general idea as to what you want. A number of websites are available as well that can help you come up with fresh ideas when it comes to designing and remodeling your room, as well as helpful tips to planning a budget. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Scale Model

    • Often the hardest part about remodeling is deciding how to organize the room thereafter. Though some people find it entertaining to move furniture into its proper place by trial and error, many find this type of game physically taxing. Another option is to make a scale model of the bedroom and craft cardboard furniture to scale, which allows you to see what your best options are for placing furniture without all the heavy lifting. If you have little ones, you can set them to work coloring the homemade furniture and cutting out pieces. After you're done constructing everything, take turns arranging furniture using a digital camera to capture arrangements you like. This is an enjoyable organizational game, and the winner is whoever comes up with the best room setup.

    Painting Faces

    • If you have little ones about, remodeling can become quite a chore. If they're not in and out, they're screaming in another room while you're lifting a 200-lb. couch. Sometimes the best way to keep them out of your business is to put them to work in it, and the best way to do this is to turn work into a game. If you're painting, include the young ones for some reason they think labor is exciting when it splatters and stains surfaces. Make sure that the carpet is properly taped off, and simply take a pencil and draw animal faces all over the lower walls within arm's reach of the youngsters; it's important that you don't use ink as it may bleed through the paint. Simply give them paint rollers and have them go to town covering up all the animals. It's sure to keep them busy at least long enough for you to think of another activity to keep them out of the way so you can finish remodeling.

    Icovia Space Planner

    • Icovia Space Planner is a piece of software that allows users to visualize their remodel before setting to work on it. Icovia 3D allows you to change wall textures and colors and try out new floor textures. The software allows you to apply endless room shapes and sizes, explore different lighting options and see the results in both 2D and 3D modes. The software is especially ideal for their selection of built-in furniture, which you can add to a room in seemingly endless arrangements since the software doesn't bind you to perpendicular angles.

    Imagine: Interior Designer

    • In Imagine's Interior Designer for the Nintendo DS, you work as a striving interior designer who must build up a client base and gain recommendations to succeed in the business. The game play, working with your stylus pen, allows you to change colors and textures on just about any surface from walls to furniture. Arranging and remodeling is the name of the game as you create custom themes to gain the approval of your clients to move on to later levels.
