Students who are seeking a deeper understanding of a particular subject at a level of higher education can enroll in a doctoral program in the field they desire. Many schools across the country have doctoral programs with concentration areas such as public policy, educational leadership and operations management. In many cases, in order for students to enroll in a doctoral program, students must possess a master's degree.

This program prepares students to provide public policy analysis and advice that has the client in mind when relating to public decisions and the effect that social values have on those decisions. Students may take courses such as Public Economics and Finance; Public Policy and Planning in New York; and Policy Issues in Primary and Secondary Education as well as other courses that include Policy Formation and Policy Analysis; Race and Class in American Cities; and Evaluation of Health and Social Service Programs.

Dallas Baptist University offers a doctor of education degree program in educational leadership. Three track options of study exist within this program; these options include education ministry leadership, higher education leadership and K-12 leadership. The education ministry leadership track prepares students for leadership in Christian-based ministries and institutions. The higher education leadership track prepares students to lead on a senior level in public or private higher educational institutions. The K-12 leadership track prepares students to lead on a district level in K-12 school systems. Students will take classes such as Developmental Theories; Organizational Behavior and Leadership; and Strategic Planning as well as Personnel Management; Principles of Educational Research; and Qualitative Research Methods and Analysis.

This program is designed to prepare students to properly manage a single plant or several organizations that produce goods or services. Students who already have a master's degree in a relevant field can expect to complete this program in three or four years; those who have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field can expect to complete this program in four or five years. Students will take courses such as Foundations of Inventory Management; Revenue Management; and Operations Strategy Models as well as other classes including Service Operations Modeling; Dynamic Programming and Optimal Control; and Stochastic Comparisons.
