FedEx Shipping Methods

FedEx Shipping Methods thumbnail
FedEx offers a variety of shipping methods for customers.

You see them almost every day in cities worldwide. The white trucks with the blue and orange FedEx logo on the side are busy making sure that packages reach their destinations. What you do not usually see are the FedEx airplanes that work in conjunction with the ground vehicles to make deliveries. FedEx offers a variety of shipping methods, from same-day to five business days.

  1. Same-Day Delivery

    • FedEx's SameDay delivery option gives customers the ability to ship a package to a destination within hours. The SameDay service is available only in the United States, and it is limited to items that are 150 pounds or lighter. FedEx also requires that packages weighing more than 70 pounds or that have one side longer than 4 feet have prior approval for same-day delivery. For packages that weigh more than 150 pounds, FedEx offers the SameDay Freight delivery option. The same-day delivery options are available 365 days a year.

    Overnight Delivery Options

    • FedEx offers customers three overnight delivery options. Customers who need a package to arrive at a destination before 10 a.m. the following day can use the First Overnight option. FedEx's Priority Overnight option ensures that packages will be delivered by 10:30 a.m., while the Standard Overnight option guarantees delivery by 3 p.m. All of FedEx's overnight delivery options require that a package weigh less than 150 pounds. Overnight options are available only in the U.S. and are available Monday through Friday.

Two To Five Business Day Options

    • FedEx also offers delivery options that will ship packages within two to five business days. The two-day option guarantees that packages will be delivered by 4:30 p.m. within two business days. The three-day option guarantees that packages will be delivered by 4:30 p.m. within three business days. FedEx Ground delivers packages within one to five business days, depending on the delivery destination. All of these options require that packages weigh less than 150 pounds. For packages being delivered to Alaska or Hawaii, FedEx guarantees delivery within three to seven business days.

    International Delivery Options

    • For customers who need to ship packages to foreign destinations, FedEx offers an expedited freight service by air. This service delivers packages as quickly as possible, but not in the same day. FedEx also offers an express freight service for international destinations that is for packages that are not as time-sensitive. FedEx delivers international packages to more than 130 countries.
