Top Business Schools on the East Coast

For students who plan to study business in college, the East Coast offers a number of prestigious programs. Ranked the top three business schools in the region are the University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and New York University. All three offer a wide choice of courses, accomplished faculties and competitive research and internship opportunities.

University of Pennsylvania

  • The University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, can boast of one of the country's top business programs. About 10,000 undergraduates are enrolled in this private university, founded in 1740 by Benjamin Franklin. Its famous Wharton School offers undergraduate, executive education and doctoral courses, as well as MBA studies. The deadline for applying is Jan. 1. Annual tuition is about $39,000.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

  • The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, has one of the most reputable business programs in the United States. Established in 1861, the private institute has a distinguished faculty and is known worldwide for its management, math and social sciences programs. MIT's Sloan School of Management offers undergraduate business education, graduate and executive education courses and MBA studies. About 4,000 students are enrolled in MIT. Applications are due Jan. 1. Tuition is about $38,000 a year.

New York University

  • Founded in 1831, New York University, in downtown New York City, offers one of the most popular business programs on the East Coast. NYU's highly-regarded Stern School of Business includes undergraduate, MBA and doctoral programs. NYU has a student body of 22,000. The deadline for applying is Jan. 1. Annual tuition is about $39,000.
