Summer Promotional Ideas
Developing ideas that can help you promote your business in summer doesn't have to take a great deal of time or a large investment in order to see positive results. The key to creating successful marketing approaches that focus on a season is to incorporate themes from that season to help you catch the attention of the public.
-
Beach or Pool Party
-
While you may not have the funds, or inclination, to build a pool in your parking lot or, alternately, have a load of sand dumped into your business' lobby, it may still be advantageous to use beach (or pool) related items to give your business a decidedly summer feel. This is a good approach, since people will often be interested in a store that visually presents the enjoyable aspects of the summer and the products that are typically a staple during that season. For instance, create a display outside your store or in your lobby that highlights items for sale related to summer, like summer clothes and accessories, items related to cooking out or gardening, or going to the beach for a relaxing day in the sun.
Summer Vacations
-
If your store sells items that might be a part of a summer vacationers' supplies, you can highlight these items on displays and in printed advertising materials. For example, your customers may need items for a family vacation to the Grand Canyon, or just a weekend excursion to a local beach, such as beach towels or miniature bottles of mouthwash or shampoo. If you are the proprietor of a restaurant, add summer menu items, especially if you live in an area tourists frequent during summer months. Among the things to consider are ice cream-based desserts or ice cold smoothies.

Using Graphics and Editing Software
-
Summer commercials and other advertisements can be greatly enhanced by using a graphics program to develop provocative, engaging advertisements. Likewise, consider creating a commercial that focuses on imagery related to summer. For example, create a commercial that shows kids outdoors running under a water spray as a way to introduce your theme and the items that you have for sale during this season of the year. When creating a video (or commercial), it's best to use at least an HD camera for quality results. You can find low-cost editing programs for sale as well as free programs that allow you to edit your commercials for placement on TV or online to your business' website or as an online advertisement effort.
