The Strategic Advantages of VoIP

The Strategic Advantages of VoIP thumbnail
VoIP provides voice communications over the Internet.

Voice over IP is a protocol used to transmit live voices over data cable. The Voice over IP (VoIP) protocol allows users to have phone conversations over the Internet or on a local network without using a phone service. The affordable, portable and convenient protocol has led to services that offer low-cost solutions for people who have family or customers out-of-state or even in another country.

  1. Affordable Long Distance

    • Businesses with international or long-distance customers benefit from VoIP, because it is much more affordable than the long distance charges from a traditional phone provider. VoIP can be used to connect with customers, or businesses can hold conference calls with widespread organizations without long distance fees. Most VoIP providers charge a flat, one-time fee for VoIP services, so it can save some businesses thousands of dollars in long distance charges over time. Some VoIP providers offer the flat fee with unlimited calls, so there is no limit to the amount of time you speak to long distance customers.

    Portability

    • When a business or individual signs up for a VoIP account, the account number moves when the user changes offices or moves to a different location. If the user moves out of state, the VoIP number doesn't need to be changed. Instead, the user can sign up and use the account anywhere. This is also beneficial to people who travel. Users can log into a network using a laptop machine and log into their VoIP account. The VoIP account is then used to communicate over a network at a hotel, cafe, remote office or even at home.

    Added Services

    • VoIP services have the same added benefits as regular phone service, but it does not cost the customer any additional fees. VoIP has call-forward, call-waiting, voice mail and caller ID. VoIP can be used on cellular phones and portable smart devices, so users can implement these features on office and home phones. Users who own their own business can keep in contact with customers even after hours when the business is closed. Some VoIP equipment makes it easy for users to completely replace traditional telephones with broadband services.
