Topics include network foundations, Java programming, systems analysis and design, network security, operating systems concepts, wireless network technologies, website design, UNIX system administration, and Internet essentials.
Applicants must have a high school diploma, GED or associate's degree. Students who wish to accelerate their education may complete the program in 18 months through the fast-track format if they already have an associate's degree.

The program is part-time and offers classes in network administration, operating systems architecture, web development, IT security, microcomputer hardware, client side programming, data mining technology for security, and forensic data recovery technology.
Students may receive course credit for certifications such as Oracle 9i DBA and A+. Entrance to the program requires a minimum of 24 college credits with a minimum grade point average of 2.5.

Take your computer education further with a master of computer science through the University of Illinois's online degree program. Classes include operating systems design, compiler construction, advanced operating systems, embedded systems architecture, logic design, concurrent programming languages and systems, program verification, and formal models of computation.
The program may be completed either part-time or full-time with a five-year maximum. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (a degree in computer science is preferred but not required; students in other majors must have taken computer programming, theory of computation and algorithms). A minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 is also required.
