Create fairy art projects with children.

Whether in your art class or at a fairy-themed party, art projects that focus on fairies can be an enjoyable way to pass the time. When it comes to fairies, wings and glitter are the order of the day, so choose crafts that feature these items. Let children express their creativity through fairy art projects.

  1. Fairy Wings

    • Fairy wings are the quintessential mark of the fairy and they are fairly easy to make. Shape sturdy yet pliable wire into the wing shape that you want and stretch a pair of panty hose over the wire--white ones work best. Allow children to decorate the wings as they wish, with glitter glue and watercolor paint. Attach a set of elastic straps so that the child can wear the wings.

    Fairy Wands

    • Take a nature walk and have children look for sticks that would make an appropriate wand. The sticks should be sturdy and about 1 foot long. Students can then make a wand out of the stick by attaching a crystal to the end of the wand with wire or tying some ribbons around the end.

    Tooth Fairy Pillow

    • The tooth fairy is an important mythical character in childhood--she takes away a child's lost teeth and replaces them with money or small gifts. Students can use fabric glue to fasten two pieces of square-shaped fabric on three sides. Once the glue has dried, stuff the fabric pocket with cotton or polyester filling and glue the last side shut. On the front, glue a small pocket with an image of a tooth on it.

    Fairy Wreaths

    • If you live in an area with a lot of wildflowers, you can collect flowers to make a wreath. Otherwise, you can purchase dried or fake flowers to make them. Show students how they can weave the stems of the flowers together. Once you've made the wreaths, you can hang them around the house or classroom, or use them as fairy crowns.

    Fairy Houses

    • Disney Family Fun suggests creating an outdoor sanctuary for any fairies that may be in your yard. Do this by collecting several sticks to form the main part of the house. You can nail the sticks that form the main frame of the house together and then simply prop other sticks against the frame. Once finished with the house, use leaves, flowers and pine cones to decorate. No fairy will be able to resist.
