Pool Lighting Ideas
Pool lighting is an important feature for your backyard, especially if you have a night swim in mind, but it is often ignored. Pool lighting can increase the safety of those who swim and may add to the overall ambiance of your outdoor space. Whether for an in-ground or above ground pool, lighting will create an inviting and warm look for you. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Incandescent
-
Incandescent or halogen light bulbs may be placed in the pool, under the water, in an in-ground pool. This is a convenient way for swimmers to see under the water when in the pool at night. The only drawback to this option is a glare off of the water. The lights may be turned off if the pool is not in use. If the lights remain on, the light may reflect into the house if others are not swimming.
Fiber Optic
-
Fiber-optic light strips do not require electricity and may be placed around the border of the pool. This is a much safer option and eliminates the dangers of electricity around water. They are also decorative, enabling you to include multiple colors of lights. You may choose to line the steps leading up to the pool to increase safety, as well. Fiber-optic strip lights are virtually maintenance free and do not require changing of light bulbs.

Floating Lights
-
Floating lights are great for parties and are appropriate for above-ground or in-ground pools. Choose from colorful round or lantern style lights. They float on the surface of the pool. They are not popular if small children will be swimming because they should not be thrown in the pool. Floating lights can add to the ambiance and feel of your outdoor space.
