It's open seven days a week and is within walking distance of the the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Library-Central Branch and Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The courtyard in the front has picnic tables, and you can choose from a very wide selection of bottled beers and beers on tap. Franklin Park is cash only. It has a first-come, first-serve policy for the courtyard, which tends to fill up quickly on a warm and beautiful day. Franklin Park plays hip-hop all day, every day. Franklin Park also plays reggae and dance hall music and sometimes even mixes that blend hip hop and dance hall.

Karma Lounge

  • Karma is a hookah lounge in the trendy East Village, Manhattan. A hookah is a glass-based pipe that is used for smoking tobacco. The tobacco is usually flavored, but smokers can opt for non-flavored tobacco. The smoke is cooled and filtered by passing through a water chamber. Guests can smoke hookahs, cigarettes or cigars in the club. This fun lounge has a full bar. Karma has beautiful, ornate brass hookahs. The tobacco is available in flavors like strawberry, mango and mint. Credit cards are accepted. Karma Lounge plays hip hop daily throughout the day during business hours. Sometimes it has a DJ, sometimes the staff uses an iPod for music. But regardless of how the music is played, Karma plays a mix of hip hop, pop and dance hall.

  • New York's West Village is a popular destination for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people--both locals and visitors alike. One of the hottest low-key LGBT lounges in this part of New York is Henrietta Hudson. The lounge has been around for over 15 years, making it a staple of the community. Henrietta's is open seven days a week, but you'll find it busiest on Friday and Saturday nights. Credit cards are accepted. Henrietta Hudson plays hip hop all day, everyday. They also play pop music. Guests here can expect to hear songstress Lady Gaga and rapper Nicki Minaj at any given moment.
