Give away incentive gifts to employees who excel.

One of the keys to running a successful business is to honor and reward employees who do their jobs well. If you are trying to motivate your workforce, consider giving away incentive gifts to those who consistently save your company money and provide excellent service. Just make sure that the gift is useful and is something that will motivate your employees to work toward winning.

  1. "Office with a View" Giveaway

    • Reserve a prime piece of office real estate--an office with a view--for the top employee in your company for the entire year. You can set criteria for "earning" the office ahead of time and give employees a year to compete to earn enough points to move into the office with windows. This is a creative incentive that will challenge employees. You can hold the giveaway every year to make it even more competitive. The current holder will have to defend his title to retain the office space.

    Gift Certificates

    • Gift certificates to be redeemed at restaurants, coffeehouses, clothing stores and grocery stores make excellent incentive gifts. Purchase a gift certificate from a place that you think your employees would frequent often. This makes the gift an especially good incentive. Make sure that you put enough money on the gift certificate so that your employee does not have to use any (or much) of her own money when redeeming it. For example, when buying a gift certificate to a restaurant, consider purchasing at least $30 and up to $50. This amount likely will cover drinks and meals for two people.

    Stock Incentives

    • During a time when many people are facing financial woes, a stock incentive is a weighty gift that will help build an employee's future. Provide stock incentives for sales representatives and other employees who reach a specific, predetermined goal by the end of the year. This will give employees a good amount of time to think about what they need to do to reach their goal.
