Things to Do With Dried Flowers

Things to Do With Dried Flowers thumbnail
There is a variety of things to do with dried flowers.

Dried flowers are in their final state and many things can be done with the flowers at this point. Make sure to keep them out of direct sunlight, so they do not fade. Do not place dried flowers near forced air heat registers, as they could cause the flowers to shatter. Once you have beautiful dried flowers, there are many things to do with them.

  1. Picture Frames

    • Use dried flowers inside a picture frame to add color. This looks really lovely when you take a black and white spring picture, and put colorful dried flowers around the picture inside the picture frame. Use a few drops of glue to hold the flowers into place.

    Cards

    • Put dried flowers inside greeting cards for holidays, birthdays and any other occasions. Arrange the flowers in the card or cut the flowers into shapes to put in the card. These will also give the card a nice fragrance. Using a whole pressed flower inside the card also makes a great gift.

    Wreaths

    • If you have a lot of dried flowers, you can make a wreath with them. Take florist wire and arrange the flowers in a pattern on the wire. Attach the wire to the wreath and use hot glue where needed. These flowers wreaths can be used in the summer, winter, spring or fall.

    Decorate Candles

    • To add to the appearance of a plain candle, add dried flowers. Apply rubber cement to the flowers and glue them to the candle. Make sure to press the edges of the dried flowers down onto the curve of the candle to keep them from lifting in the future. Also take a tea-light candle and light it. Once it has a melt pool, dip a paint brush into the wax and brush over the top of the dried flowers. This will give the flowers an extra layer of protection and acts as another form of glue.

    Simply Jewelry

    • Take two pieces of packing tape and put a dried flower in between the two pieces of tape. Cut around the flower in the shape of a circle, heart or a shape you like. Attach the "charm" to a ribbon, yarn or string for a bracelet or necklace. This is a great project for young children.
