Tips on Saving Electricity & Petrol
Conservation of our natural resources has become a topic of interest for many people around the world. When you implement tips on saving electricity and petrol for your vehicle, you are helping to save the environment, saving money for yourself and helping to extend the life of your vehicle. There are many simple tips you can follow that would help you to save money each year on your electric bill and the cost of fueling up your vehicle, and you can start doing them right away.

Laundry
-
To save electricity while doing the laundry, consider using cold water when you wash instead of hot water. Check the tags on your garments to see which ones can be washed in cold water and save on the electricity it would cost to heat laundry water if you have an electric water heater. You can also save electricity by hanging your clothes to dry outside rather than running your dryer. If you do use your dryer, make sure the lint trap is clean to allow better hot air flow and that you set your dryer to the proper setting based on the clothes you're drying to make sure you are not using a higher setting than needed.
Tires
-
Check the air pressure on your tires each time you fill up the gas tank. There will me a maximum air pressure number on the side of your tire, and you should fill your tire with air to those specifications. Not only will properly inflated tires make your car easier to steer, it will also save you money on fuel. When your tires are underinflated, your engine needs to work harder to make your vehicle run and burns more fuel.

Air Conditioning
-
People who live in areas with a change of seasons sometimes have large central air conditioning units to help cool their homes during the spring and summer months. Use your air conditioner as little as possible, and only use it during the hottest days of summer. For the rest of the year, consider opening up windows in your home to allow the air to flow, and use box fans to help the air circulate better. Installing ceiling fans can help keep a room comfortable at a much lower cost than running an air conditioner.
Follow the Speed Limit
-
When you drive fast you burn more petrol. To conserve gas on your next long trip, drive at or below the speed limit to conserve fuel. If you have cruise control on your vehicle, set it for the posted speed limit and make sure your car is not in the passing lane. If you do not have cruise control, consider speaking to a car dealership about having it installed.
