Hybrid Dogs That Don't Shed

Hybrid Dogs That Don't Shed thumbnail
The labradoodle is a hybrid breed made popular for its lack of shedding.

Hybrid dogs that don't shed have become very popular, especially for people who are allergic to pet dander. You'll find that non-shedding hybrids are mixed with poodles, because poodles don't shed either. It's just a matter of figuring out which hybrid mixes the best with you and your family. It's important to note that hybrid dogs will shed some. Just as hair sheds from the human head, hybrids will lose some hair over time. But the shedding is extremely minimal compared to most other dog breeds.

  1. Labradoodle

    • A labradoodle is Labrador retriever and poodle mix. Labradoodles are one of the most well known poodle hybrids. They are popular because they combine the non-shedding aspect of the poodle along with the famous Lab traits of loyalty and intelligence.

    Goldendoodle

    • Golden retrievers are often at the top of popular dog breed mixes, but their long coat creates a mess inside peoples' homes and often triggers allergy attacks. Mixing with a poodle eliminates the shedding issue.

    Schnoodle

    • This hybrid is a mix between a schnauzer and a poodle. Both these breeds come in different sizes and so do their mixes. For example, a giant schnauzer mixed with a standard poodle creates a giant schnoodle. A miniature schnauzer mated with a large toy or small standard poodle creates a miniature schnoodle.

    Irish Doodle

    • The Irish doodle is another large hybrid mix. It's a combination of an Irish setter and a standard poodle. Irish setters have long been popular dogs, so this combination negates the long hair and replaces it with curly poodle-like fur.

    Yorkipoo

    • Yorkipoos are for people who want a non-shedding hybrid in small form. Yorkshire terriers, or yorkies, are known for shedding large amounts throughout most of the year. Mix a yorkie with a small standard or large toy poodle and you have yorkie traits without all the long hair.
