Christian-related crafts help to foster a greater understanding of the Bible.

Parents who want to provide their children with an opportunity to learn about Scripture often send their children to Bible school. During Bible school, the teachings of Jesus and his disciples are instilled in children. If you are a Bible school teacher, consider having your students create some of these crafts to foster a greater understanding of Christianity.

  1. Noah's Ark

    • Follow up the telling of the story of Noah by having children create this craft. Print out clip art images of the animals that were in the story and have the children cut them out. As an alternative, children can create their own animal images with papers and crayons or markers. Provide children with two paper plates and help them cut one in half. Ask them to color the front of the whole paper plate and the back of the half paper plate brown. Have them glue the half paper plate to the bottom half of the whole paper plate, creating an ark. Instruct the children to glue the animals inside the ark.

    Jesus Loves Me

    • Provide children with red and white construction paper, heart templates, a ribbon, crayons, scissors and glue. Have children use the heart templates to trace four hearts on red construction paper and cut the hearts out. On each heart, children should write one of the letters in the word "love." Ask children to cut the piece of white construction paper in half and help them write "Jesus loves me" on one of the halves. Instruct them to lay the piece of ribbon flat on a table and glue the sign that says "Jesus loves me" to the top. Underneath the sign, have them glue the hearts to the ribbon so that they spell out the word "love." Children can hang the completed craft in their homes.

    Baby Jesus Ornament

    • This is an ideal craft for children to make during Christmas. Provide them with half of a walnut shell--this will serve as a cradle. Tie one end of a piece of yarn into a loop and glue the opposite end inside the shell. The loop will be used to hang the ornament. Have children glue cotton to the inside of the shell. Help them create a baby Jesus by poking a dried bean onto a toothpick and painting the dried bean flesh colored. Instruct them to wrap the toothpick with a small piece of felt, which will represent swaddling clothes. Have children place the baby Jesus on top of the cotton inside the walnut shell. They can hang the completed ornament on a Christmas tree.
