Charity is the best way to show love at Christmas.

Christmas is known for being a time for sharing love. Kids love Christmas, but many cannot celebrate for themselves. Many charities devote special time to help children at this time of year. Give the gift of love to a child for Christmas. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Toys For Tots

    • The United States Marine Corps started Toys for Tots in 1991. Since then they have collected and delivered 81million new unwrapped toys to needy children around the country. To donate, simply purchase a new toy, then take it, unwrapped to a Marine Corps recruiting center or place it in a bin, located in many department stores. You can also donate money, for the purchase of toys and to help run the program.

The program has an impressive 97:3 ratio for funds. This means 97 percent of the funds goes toward the purchase of new toys for disadvantaged children, and only three percent goes towards the costs to run the program.

    Shop With a Cop

    • Many children not only want Christmas gifts for themselves, but they want to make sure their family has gifts for Christmas as well. Police officers all over the country saw this need and developed Shop With A Cop. A needy child gets to go shopping with a police officer to buy gifts for their families. Most children already have a specific gift in mind for each member of their family, but if not, the police officer can help give them ideas as well. This is a great charity which is helping rebuild relationships between police officers and children.

    Angel Tree

    • Angel Tree is a division of Prison Ministries. This program helps give over 1.5 million children of prison inmates hope during the Christmas season. Angel Tree is about more than just gifts at Christmas, but about reconciliation. Many children hold shame and embarrassment over their incarcerated parents, and Angel Tree shows these children that someone cares and is willing to give them hope.
